About this photograph :
Hollywood
The famous giant letters overhanging Hollywood Hill have become one of the best known monuments in the world. At first, the 13 letters in ‘Hollywoodland’ were intended for a property advert. In 1949 the Chamber of Commerce intervened to take away the last four letters (LAND) after being abandoned for years, leaving ‘Hollywood,’ the subsequent name for the famous Los Angeles area.
About the artist :

Jizsda
Oliver Jiszda was born in Vienna in 1974. He attended the prestigious ‘Theresianische Akademie’, then left it three years later without a degree. At the age of 16 his vivid interest in graphic arts led him to enrol at a specialised school named, "graphische Lehr & Versuchsanstalt", which he quit after a short stay. He started his career as a freelance graphics designer in Vienna. In 1997 Oliver left for Los Angeles.“I took the first available opportunity to live my love for afro-american music" OJThis is how he came to extend his stay to an impressive 4 1/2 years in L.A. While working with musicians there, he finally started to apply his graphic design talent to photography. In photo shoots with e.g. Black Eyed Peas, Ice-T, Dr. Dre and many other artists he found the chance to develop his own, highly individual style. In 2001, he returned to Vienna as a full-time freelance photographer, soon getting the attention of the local creative community with photography for successful advertising campaigns like e.g. Wiener Festwochen, Museumsquartier, Hochriegl, A1, Mobilkom, Addidas, Nike and Pepsi Cola. Oliver Jiszda is currently a freelance photographer and designer in Vienna and Los Angeles.
