Edwin Eugene "Buzz" Aldrin junior was born 20th January 1930 in Montclair, New Jersey. Thanks to his Doctoral Diploma in Astronautic Science from MIT (Massachusetts Institute of Technology) in 1963, he was selected by NASA. As a pilot he took part in the last flight of the Gemini programme on 11th November 1966, alongside Jim Lovell. In 1969, he took part in the Apollo 11 mission during which he was the second man after Neil Armstrong to walk on the Moon. Aldrin left NASA in 1971, then the army in 1972, to enter the private industry as a technical consultant.
