North sea #3

About this photograph :
North sea #3
For the North Sea series (Wangerooge Island, Germany- 2009), Steffen went to a North Sea beach as the afternoon drew to a close. The last bathers had left, and the beach cabins lost in the immensity of the landscape appear inadequate to us, almost absurd. Isolated, lined up in a haphazard way or knocked over, they seem to remind us that after the departure of the holiday makers, nature pursues its own work.
About the artist :
Steffen
Schulte-Lippern
At 30 years old, Steffen Schulte-Lippern is a fashion photographer in the German region of Sauerland. For several years, alongside this activity, he has carried out his own work about the interaction of Man with his environment. With an interest in nature from a very young age, when he received his first camera at 15 years old, it was to photograph only one subject: clouds; several hundred in several months… His artistic work can be interpreted as a question about the transformation of nature by Man in the framework of our society of leisure. Nature seems to be domesticated, sanitized and polished in the one goal of satisfying our winter or summer pleasures.
