About this photograph :
Flots Varanges
"On the Normandy coast, one spring tide day, a woman is going to swim. In the grey and blue mass where the sky, the waves and the sand blend together, the stretch of her legs which open with confidence to go in the water, the warm tone of her skin and the clothing that she is wearing, it is very small and incongruous. I find this imbalance aesthetically overwhelming and no doubt also for intimate reasons. To express it in a photograph is to try to rouse this emotion from oblivion." FM
About the artist :
Fabrice
Malzieu
Fabrice Malzieu discovered photography through cinema, which was the subject of his university studies. He made it his profession after his travels from which he brought back images for several magazines. His professional experience, through reportages, portraits, editorial photos, and his personal experiences, nourishes a corpus of images that he has exhibited for almost a decade. Throughout the varied themes that he addresses, he says that he searches for a "photographic truth" in a complex relationship, in which memory is the theatre between that which was and that which we wanted or believed to see. At the age of 55, Fabrice Malzieu lives and works in Paris with his wife and his two sons.
