About this photograph :
Classical Elegance
The Lockheed Electra is perhaps the most beautiful plane ever built with its aluminium fuselage. If you look at it closely you can see the ghost of Howard Hughes or Glenn Miller’s silhouette emerging. I found this model in the suburbs of San Bernardino in California, parked in a museum car park in the open air, the last stop for this hero of the incredible story of aviation... If it still appears capable of taking off, it is because it is lovingly maintained by the expert hands of Second World War veterans. These photos are not only homage to the machine; they are also a tribute to the men who flew them, to them, the real heroes of this fantastic story...
About the artist :
Olivier
Lavielle
Oliver Lavielle is a fan of the period between the ‘30s and the ‘70s. His world is full of jazz, swing, blues, rock ‘n’ roll and a hint of disco. Untouched by the aesthetics of the period, his subjects are best expressed exclusively in black and white. These dynamic compositions are inspired by Hollywood style. As a world traveller, Asia and the United States have inspired him. As a private pilot, his aircraft photos express the intimate, special relationship that he has with his toys, as he likes to call them. Entering his world, is a little like travelling in time, and as Olivier is also a flight crew member for an airline company, only one thing remains to be said: "Welcome on board!"
