About this photograph :
Back yard treasure
"As I was going along part of Route 66 lined with desert plains, I came across these magnificent relics from a period when making cars was still a work of art... Abandoned at the back of a garden or displayed in front of a motel where the ghost of Marilyn remains, these beauties are waiting for a second life. The sensual shapes and sparkling chrome work invite me to take the steering wheel and to drive straight ahead, from inter states to highways and from valleys to deserts." OL. June 2009
About the artist :
Olivier
Lavielle
Oliver Lavielle is a fan of the period between the ‘30s and the ‘70s. His world is full of jazz, swing, blues, rock ‘n’ roll and a hint of disco. Untouched by the aesthetics of the period, his subjects are best expressed exclusively in black and white. These dynamic compositions are inspired by Hollywood style. As a world traveller, Asia and the United States have inspired him. As a private pilot, his aircraft photos express the intimate, special relationship that he has with his toys, as he likes to call them. Entering his world, is a little like travelling in time, and as Olivier is also a flight crew member for an airline company, only one thing remains to be said: "Welcome on board!"
