About this photograph :
Reflets sur Broadway
“Times Square, the crossroads of Broadway and Seventh Avenue has been quite rightly nicknamed the ‘Crossroads of the World.’ When you are there for the first time, you are overwhelmed by an explosion of colours, advertisements, luminescent screens, as well as a constant flood of vehicles and people. In contrast to some photographs taken with a wide angled lens to bring out the excessive size of the location, I have favoured close-up shots, to closely express the unique sensations that are felt when crossing the Broadway crossroads on foot. This photo faithfully describes the atmosphere of the place. Our gaze is drawn to the reflection of the luminous signs on the black limousine, the girl lying down on the bus poster, the coloured theatre posters, a real visual hive of activity.” GG
About the artist :
Guillaume
Gaudet
Born in Versailles in 1969, Guillaume Gaudet developed a taste for travel and the discovery of new cultures during his childhood, which he spent living in several foreign countries, notably in Spain, Argentina and Germany. After a career in public relations in Paris, he joined his wife in New York in 2006. On arrival, he fell in love with this bustling city. As someone who has always been fascinated by photography, the urban landscape and the melting pot atmosphere of the Big Apple is an inexhaustible source of inspiration for him. New York is his favoured playground, where he does not tire of photographing the smallest detail. Through light, architecture or a life scene, in each of his photos he tries to capture a small part of the city’s soul and energy.
