About this photograph :
Séance photo, 1963
In 1963, while Stan Wiezniak is preparing his material in the studio at the Philips head office in rue Jenner, Serge Gainsbourg appears! At that time the artist is recording a very country style piece called Un violon un jambon which lends itself easily to the cow-boy pistols in hands and a Western hat game. From it emerges Séance photo 1963 by Stan Wiezniak which will be used for the 45 rpm EP Ninth series.
About the artist :
Stan
Wiezniak
From first encounter, Stan Wiezniak is one of these unusual characters whose words we hang on and whose voice resounds like a story teller. This is his story. He is an orphan at 10 years old and this young boy whose parents were Polish is very quickly confronted with the harsh reality of war. He grows up in poverty and at 10 years old, swears he will work all of his life so that no-one is so poor to the point of not having 2 pieces of wood to make a cross. Struck by tuberculosis at 17 years old, this illness will force him to be confined to bed for many years. Far from religion, he therefore finds refuge in poetry and great authors and decides to write very early on. But it is photography which will predominate and project him amongst the period’s greatest. Once cured and armed with a CAP in photography (a photography qualification), Stan W. replies to an advert in France Soir for Philips which is looking for a printer/enlarger. He enters the music world via this profession then before long gets noticed with his strong personality. Jacques Canetti, musical producer and central figure in French song in the 1950s, opens doors to the artist world and takes him under his wing. The producer offers an initial photo session to the young photographer with the new talent of the time called Georges Brassens. Stan Wiezniak therefore asserts his talent and quickly carves himself a place in the world of show-biz by photographing artists like Jacques Brel, Claude Francois, Johnny Hallyday, Juliette Greco, Nana Mouskouri, Serge Reggiani, Serge Gainsbourg and many more… At 77 years old, Stan Wiezniak has since expressed his art in many ways. Both a photographer, sculptor, painter and writer, this multi-talented artist will continue to surprise us with his unbelievable charisma and his extraordinary personal experiences.
