The Tokyo néons series made in 2008 is the fruit of late-night wandering in Shinjuku and Shibuya in Tokyo. These two districts in the Japanese capital, business area by day and fleshpots by night, are frequented by Tokyo residents and tourists alike. Attracted and fascinated by neon lights, the artist only photographs lights at night.

Since the series Soweto, Femmes sans terre in 2007, Alexei Riboud has continued to explore the world and has stopped in Asia this time, to be more precise, in Tokyo, Japan. This Franco-American, in his forties, photographs people and their environment, misery and joie de vivre, with the same enthusiasm.
